First the chickens. I borrowed a book from the library on chickens so I can read what I am thinking of getting into by starting a flock. I have a idea of what I want from them which is a combo of large eggs and meat eventually. But that means heavier breeds too. So I checked out the Saddlebred and confirm that I am not interested in a rather high maintance high spirited horse like this. I would consider the Morgan if I could find one 1) gaited and 2) Foundation stock along with a cool head about him.
